To install floor return you would insert into floor opening. The lip surrounding the stamped steel vent will hold cover in place.

Regarding measurements: Please ensure you are measuring the actual size of the floor hole into which this vent will be placed. In order to have the correct vent size, please do not measure the faceplate of the old grille. For instance, if the floor hole size is 18 x 18 inches, purchase a 18 x 18 inch grille.

Heavy Gauge Floor Return Dimensions:

Faceplate dimensions are 19 13/16 x 19 13/16 inches and have an approximate thickness of 3/16 inch. The grille will sit into the hole opening approximately 3/4 inch.
