This 6 x 30 floor vent cover is the return air grille you want to use when you have a floor vent opening of the same size. Regarding measurements:  Please ensure you are measuring the actual size of the duct hole opening in the floor into which this vent will be placed.  In order to have the correct vent size, please do not measure the faceplate of the old grille.  For instance, if the floor hole size is 6 x 30 inches, purchase a 6 x 30 inch grille. 

Heavy Gauge Floor Return Dimensions:

Faceplate dimensions are 7 13/16 x 31 13/16 inches with an approximate thickness of 3/16 inch. The grille will drop into the floor hole opening approximately 3/4 inch.
